Curriculum

Key Stage 3

In Key Stage 3 (Years 7  to 9), students study English, Mathematics, Sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) and a range of Humanities subjects which includes Geography, History and Integrated Studies (Year 7). They have the opportunity to study French and Spanish; as well as Art, Religious Studies, Music, Drama, PSHE (including Careers and Character Education), Food Technology and ICT.

Key Stage 4

At the end of Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11), students normally sit Level 2 (GCSE/vocational) exams in eight to ten subjects. There are five compulsory core subjects: Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, a Humanities subject (either Geography or History) and Science (either double or triple award).

Students then choose from a list of additional subjects to make the total of eight to ten GCSE/vocational subjects (GCSE: Religious Studies, ICT, PE, Computer Science, Drama, Music, Food Technology, Art; Vocational: BTEC Health and Social Care, VCert Business Studies). Students also take two core non-examined subjects: Physical Education and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education).
