Earlier this year a number of our Year 7 and Year 8 students took part in a Mathematics competition organised by the University of Leeds. The students were required to tackle a number of problems that tested their problem solving and logical reasoning skills, as well as their knowledge of Mathematics. Over 350 students from across West Yorkshire entered the competition, providing a very high level of competition.
Five students from Batley Grammar School did particularly well, achieving a Certificate of Merit. Hannah Green, Caitlan Davis, Dhruv Dhangar, Sarah Hassan and Biloval Ashfak were invited, along with their families, to attend a prize giving evening at the university.
One of our Year 7 students, however, stood out from the rest. Molly Lawford achieved 3rd place in the competition, which is an incredible achievement. Her achievement has been celebrated by the school, in assembly, and also at the award ceremony at the University of Leeds. Well done Molly!
